Slavoj Zizek, a Slovenian sociologist, postmodern philosopher, and cultural critic is a professor at the Institute for Sociology, Ljubljana and at the European Graduate School EGS who uses popular culture to explain the theory of Jacques Lacan and the theory of Jacques Lacan to explain politics and popular culture. He was born in 1949 in Ljubljana, Slovenia where he lives to this day but he has lectured at universities around the world. He was analysed by Jacques Alain Miller, Jacques Lacan’s son in law. His research focuses on Karl Marx, Hegel and Schellingfundamentalism, tolerance, political correctness, globalization, subjectivity, human rights, Lenin, myth, cyberspace, postmodernism, multiculturalism, post-marxism, David Lynch, and Alfred Hitchcock. He has published many books and translations in several languages. overall, though, i would say a good quote to take away from this lecture from zizek is, “contrary to what people think, the message from pyschoanalysis is precisely: “no, enjoyment is NOT the fundamental category of your existence.”" zizek says so much of society is focused on enjoying ourselves. what is freedom in america? freedom to enjoy and consume? there is an ethical element here related to what i wrote (and zizek talked about) previously vis a vis levinas that is worth listening to again.

Zizek is a fascinating thinker, one of the few really charismatic characters still left in today`s philosophy. I like the way his thought induces healthy and creative chaos in my mind.

Badiou’s 15 Theses are excellen…they can be easily found in French and English via google, and are well worth reading. The one Zizek cites is one of my favorites.
Another good one:
